Chapter Seven

“Wanna fool around?”

Sabby yelped as hands curved around her hips and slid up under her loose top. She didn’t need to ask who it was. She’d know Jude’s touch anywhere, even after so short a time. His presence and feel were imprinted on her psyche.

She pushed the handful of containers she carried onto the shelf of the big walk-in pantry and twisted around in his hold until she faced him. Then she slid her hands down to cover his jeans-clad butt. “If we didn’t have a houseful of students, I’d take you up on that. Besides, it must be just about time for your guests to arrive.”

Tightening her hold on his rear end, she pulled him in closer—close enough that she could feel the hard erection he sported behind his zip. “Hey, did I happen to tell you I have a thing for men with nice tight buns? Sexy. Very sexy.”

He grinned and thrust his hips against her. “I’m not certain I like all this talk about other men. Now if it’s just one man you’re talking about and that man just happened to be me, I guess it’s okay.” Then he thrust against her again.

Sabby met him movement for movement, and when he lowered his head and captured her mouth, she threw herself into the kiss. Sensation flooded her. Her clit throbbed with every push of his hips. Her panties dampened and her inner muscles clenched with need. Hot damn, much more of this and I’ll rip his clothes off and have him right here in the pantry.

She pulled back from him and dragged in a deep breath, trying to quiet the rush of hormones racing through her body. “Down, boy,” she managed to say. “You need to get your libido under control before your guests descend on us. It would be just like Peachey to come looking for you.”

“Uh, yeah, you’re right.” He grimaced and stepped away from her, trying to adjust the front of his jeans. “And our guests have already started to arrive. Peachey is probably out there holding court with the Chancellor and his wife. I think Terrance has arrived, too. I came in to find you.”

“Okay, you head on out. I’ll be there in a moment. I need to check on the empanadas in the oven.” She did a twirl on the spot, her arms out. “Do I look all right? I know you said casual, but I wasn’t certain if this would do.”

She’d teamed her normal black leggings with a black bra and lace-trimmed black camisole. Over the top she’d donned a sheer black and red long-sleeved top.

“You look fantastic. So fantastic I’d kiss you if it wouldn’t make this old fellow wake up again.” He chuckled as he pointed at his crotch. Then he dug into the breast pocket of his polo shirt. “There’s one thing you’ve forgotten, though. You left it in the bathroom.”

He lifted her left hand and slid the engagement ring onto her finger. Sabby felt a momentary flash of pain that it was all make-believe.
